Frequently Asked Questions
What soft serve products do you offer?
For our milk-based soft serve, we have vanilla, chocolate and vanilla/chocolate twist. Our oat-based vegan soft serve is available in vanilla.
What is your vegan soft serve made of, and how does it compare to traditional soft serve?
Our vegan soft serve is an oat-based product. It has the following ingredients -- Cane Sugar, Tapioca Maltodextrin, Whole Oat Flour, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Soy Protein , Salt, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum. Our soft serve product is produced by Chicago Vegan Foods, and is very creamy with a distinct vanilla flavor.
Tell me more about your flavors. How is it possible to have so many flavor blends?
We will blend your flavoring choices into any soft serve product — up to three additional flavors in any one item. Because of the magic of combinatorial math, 70+ flavor concentrates can be blended into over 100,000 unique flavor blend possibilities!
What is your preferred method of payment?
Honestly, we will admit to being very surprised every time we are asked this question. The short answer is — our preferred method of payment is your preferred method of payment. We accept cash, debit/credit cards and even contactless payments. And don’t worry — at Piper’s you will never, ever hear us complain about how you choose to pay. Card fees are just another cost of doing business for us. As long as you are giving us some of your hard-earned money, we will accept it gladly!
Is all of your soft serve gluten free?
It certainly is. And, for our friends with gluten sensitivities, we offer two gluten free cone options — a gluten free cake cone and a gluten free waffle cone!
Is Tipping Expected?
Whether to tip or not to tip is entirely your choice! We once tried to eliminate tipping at Piper’s. However, we found that many of our guests wanted to give our employees a little something extra.
Employees are paid a fair hourly wage for an ice cream shop, well above the minimum wages. Employees split all tips received based upon their prorated hours worked for the week. This is considered supplemental hourly pay above and beyond their hourly wages. Piper’s NEVER keeps any portion of tips.
